The Garden Keeps Growing… Even While I Heal 🌱❤️
Life has a funny way of reminding us to slow down.
Right now I’m recovering from ankle surgery, so I can’t be out in the garden the way I’d like. Thankfully my husband and my sons have been helping take care of everything, and today my eldest son took these photos so I could still share the garden with all of you.
This little garden has become so much more than a place to grow food.
It’s where we learn patience.
It’s where our children help harvest dinner.
It’s where the bees, butterflies, and birds remind us that every living thing has a purpose.
This year we’ve been growing tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, herbs, potatoes, hot peppers, corn, flowers for pollinators, and so much more. Around the yard we also have apple, peach, plum, fig, lemon, lime, olive, and raspberry plants continuing to grow.
One of my biggest goals has been learning to cook with what we grow, preserving the harvest, wasting less, buying local whenever possible, and creating meals around what nature gives us each season.
Recovery has slowed me down, but it hasn’t stopped the dream.
Over the next few weeks, while I’m healing, I’ll be sharing our harvests, recipes, preserving projects, cookbook inspiration, gardening successes (and failures!), and behind-the-scenes moments as we continue building the lifestyle that inspires my family and hopefully yours too.
Thank you for following this journey with us.
Sometimes the greatest growth happens while we’re standing still.
🌿❤️
