Working 9 to Hive: Why Our Community Needs Bees šŸšŸŒ¼

Working Bees šŸ

My latest garden Short captures bees busy pollinating, with Dolly Parton’s ā€œ9 to 5ā€ as their soundtrack! It’s a playful moment with an important message: these little garden visitors help support our whole community.

As bees move between flowers, they transfer pollen, helping many plants produce fruits and seeds. Their work supports our home gardens, local farms, and wild plants that provide food for other wildlife. Protecting bees helps protect the variety of food we grow and eat.

Unfortunately, many wild bee populations are struggling, although not every species is declining. Habitat loss, pesticide exposure, disease, and climate change can reduce their food supplies and threaten their survival. Fewer flowering spaces mean fewer places to feed and raise the next generation.

Planting flowers is one practical way we can help. Choose flowers native to your area and a mixture that blooms at different times, providing nectar and pollen throughout the growing season. A small garden bed or containers can offer valuable food. Bees also need nesting places, so leave some undisturbed ground and hollow plant stems, and avoid insecticides around blooming flowers.

This is why garden moments belong alongside cooking, budgeting, and sustainable living on Jahzelle’s Creations. The food we prepare connects us to the plants, pollinators, and growers behind it. Sharing these moments is my way of encouraging small, practical changes—and showing that caring for nature can begin right outside our doors.
